Privacy policy
Effective and last updated October 13, 2026
Wendlow is an app for iPhone and iPad made by Calverda LLC, a New York limited liability company (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Wendlow app, this website and messages you send us.
The short version: the app has no account, no server and no analytics. What you record in Wendlow stays on your devices and in the private area of your own iCloud account, which we cannot access. The only information that reaches us is what you choose to send by email, limited diagnostics that Apple shares only if you allow it, and the basic request logs any website produces. Each is described below.
What the app stores on your devices
Wendlow stores what you enter and the settings you choose:
- Drinks, with their size, strength, time and time zone, and the drinks you save for one-tap logging.
- Drinking days, alcohol-free days, targets and quarterly targets.
- Practices, their weekly targets, colors and the days you mark as done, including history you add from before you started using Wendlow.
- Morning check-ins for sleep, clarity and energy, context tags, notes, urges you record and planned evenings.
- Your personal thesis, as text or as an audio recording in your own voice.
- Profile settings, such as your region, starting baseline, day start and week start, and whether App lock, Discreet mode and Apple Health are on.
- Device settings, such as notification times and appearance.
This information is about your drinking and wellbeing, and you should treat it as sensitive. It is stored in Wendlow’s storage on your device, which Wendlow’s widgets can also read.
iCloud sync
If you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud is on for Wendlow, Apple syncs your record, including your thesis recording, between your devices through the private CloudKit database in your iCloud account. Calverda LLC has no access to that database. Apple’s handling of iCloud data is covered byApple’s privacy policy. If iCloud is off or unavailable, your record is kept on that device only, and Settings shows this.
Device settings, such as notification times and appearance, are not synced.
Apple Health
If you allow it, Wendlow reads sleep analysis, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, workouts, step count and mindful minutes from Apple Health. It uses them to compare nights after drinking with nights after alcohol-free days, and to show Health figures alongside the practices you mark, for comparison. Health never marks a practice day for you.
These figures are calculated on your device each time they are needed. Data read from Apple Health is never written to Wendlow’s storage, never synced to iCloud by Wendlow, never sent to us and never shared. If you allow it, Wendlow can also write the number of alcoholic beverages you log to Apple Health, where Apple’s own privacy terms apply.
Health data is not used for advertising or marketing, is not sold, and is not disclosed to any third party. You can withdraw access at any time in the Health app or in iOS Settings.
Other places your information appears
- Widgets, the Lock Screen and the Dynamic Island can show figures such as drinks today or a planned evening’s limit. Notifications can include drink figures. Discreet mode tones these down.
- If you use Siri or Shortcuts, Apple processes your request under its own privacy terms, and Wendlow can log a drink or read out a summary.
- Files you export, and Monthly Review PDFs, go wherever you choose to save or share them.
Microphone and Face ID
The microphone is used only while you record your personal thesis. The recording is not transcribed. Face ID or your passcode is used only to unlock the app when App lock is on, and Wendlow never receives your biometric data.
Importing from another app
If you import a CSV export from another tracker, the file is read on your device and never uploaded. Its contents are added to your record like anything you enter yourself, and sync through your own iCloud in the same way.
What reaches us
The app contains no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting code, and it does not connect to any server run by Calverda LLC. Its App Store privacy label reads Data Not Collected. The following is all that can reach us:
- Email. If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach. We use it only to reply and to resolve your request. Please don’t include details about your drinking or health that you don’t want us to have. If you do, you consent to us using them for that purpose only.
- Apple diagnostics. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple may share crash reports and aggregated usage statistics with us. These do not include your record. Purchases are processed by Apple, and we receive sales reports without your name or payment details.
- This website. The site is hosted by Vercel, which processes your IP address, browser type and the pages you request in order to serve the site and protect it from abuse. The site uses no cookies, analytics or advertising.
We do not sell or rent personal information, share it for targeted advertising, or let third parties track you across sites or apps. The website does not respond differently to Do Not Track signals because it does no tracking.
Service providers and transfers
The providers who process this limited information for us are Apple (app distribution, payments and diagnostics), Vercel (website hosting) and our email provider. We require them to protect it at least as well as this policy does. Calverda LLC is based in New York, in the United States, so information you send us is processed there. Where the law requires it, these transfers rely on the providers’ contractual safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Support emails: until your request is resolved, then deleted within 12 months, unless we need to keep them longer to meet a legal obligation.
- Website request logs: kept by Vercel for a limited period, typically no more than 30 days.
- Your Wendlow record: for as long as you keep it on your devices and in your iCloud. We never hold a copy.
Your control
- Export your entries, check-ins, goals and targets as CSV or JSON from Settings, then Data.
- Delete your record from Settings, then Data. This removes it from the device and, when the device is online and signed in to iCloud, from your iCloud. It does not remove drinks Wendlow wrote to Apple Health, which you can delete in the Health app, or files you exported. Deleting the app does not by itself delete your iCloud copy. You can also remove it in iOS Settings, under your name, then iCloud.
- Withdraw Apple Health or microphone access at any time in iOS Settings.
- Ask us to access, correct or delete the emails you sent us, at support@wendlow.com.
If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area
Calverda LLC is the controller of the limited personal data described under What reaches us. We process it on these bases: to respond to your request, or in our legitimate interest in providing support and running a secure website. For any health information you include in an email, the basis is your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time by asking us to delete the message. We make no automated decisions about you.
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of your data, and to receive it in a portable form. Email support@wendlow.com to use these rights or to complain about how we handle your data. We will acknowledge a complaint within 30 days and respond without undue delay. You can also complain to your data protection authority, which in the UK is theInformation Commissioner’s Office.
US state privacy rights
Residents of some states, including California, Washington, Nevada and Connecticut, have rights over their personal and health information. Our consumer health data privacy policy describes the consumer health data we handle and how to use those rights. We will not discriminate against you for using them.
Security
Your record is protected by your device’s security and by iCloud. You can add App lock with Face ID or your passcode. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure. If a breach affecting information we hold occurs, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.
Age
Wendlow is intended only for adults who are 18 or older and of legal drinking age where they live. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly receive information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has contacted us, email us and we will delete the message.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and post the new version here. Any change to what Wendlow stores or shares will also be described in the app’s release notes. We will not begin collecting your record or Health data without asking you first.
